North Jersey Aquatics is excited to announce the addition of a USA Competitive Swim Team launching soon for elite level swimmers ages 13-18. Practices will be held at The County College of Morris and Morristown-Beard. Practice days of the week and times will be announced shortly.
Our team will provide a customized, high level program for a select group of swimmers ages 13-18. This program will have approximately 20 spaces, and will be competing in USA Sanctioned Swim Meets. Invitation to this program will be by tryout and interview process. Our coaches are looking for swimmers with great work ethic, dedication to the sport, and with incredible team spirit and focus.
HOW IS THE NJAC EXPERIENCE DIFFERENT?
North Jersey Aquatics has a strong vision to help competitive athletes reach their full potential. We know that coaches do not typically have time during daily practices to correct details as much as swimmers would like, so our goal is to bridge the gap in order to create athletes who are in tune with their own stroke development. We meet each swimmer where they are and develop a plan for the future before executing that plan to achieve goals. We prepare them with the skills to perform at a higher level in practices and meets as well as understand the science behind why we swim with a certain technique and how they can use that knowledge to improve.
We work on each swimmer as a whole in order to create the strongest athlete imaginable given his or her past/current training and genetics. This includes focusing on the science behind technique, race prep, visualization, and goal setting. Our swimmers learn to move faster in the pool by improving buoyancy and body position which leads to creating additional propulsion and minimizing resistance. We also prepare athletes by offering guidance in how to mentally prepare for races, become faster swimmers, deal with grueling daily schedules, and how to build confidence in an ever changing world.
BREAKING NEWS 8/2/23!
NORTH JERSEY AQUATIC CLUB PARTERS WITH JERSEY AQUATIC CLUB TO LAUNCH CLUB SWIM TEAM
NJAC/JAC MORRIS SATTELITE TEAM
North Jersey Aquatic Club is launching a small club swim team that will provide a customized, high level program for a select group of swimmers ages 13-18. This program will have approximately 20 spaces, and will be competing in USA Sanctioned Swim Meets. Invitation to this program will be by tryout and interview process. Our coaches are looking for swimmers with great work ethic, dedication to the sport, and with incredible team spirit and focus.
Why are we starting this team?
We have heard over and over in our years of coaching and being involved in competitive aquatics that swimmers and parents want a more quality swimming/swim team experience. NJAC’s philosophy and mission has always been on quality and personal attention from learn-to-swim to competitive swimming. This team is an extension of that philosophy.
Why such a small number of swimmers?
NJAC’s team will have a very small coach:swimmer ratio is something that is not usually available at other club programs. Swimmers and parents have seen it – there are just too many swimmers in the pool to get the attention, time and consistency that you want and deserve. NJAC is on the cutting edge of a new type of program where small satellite programs are able to provide highly customized programming but with the benefit of attaching to a greater club team for resources and competitions.
Will swimmers be registered with USA Swimming?
We will be partnering with Jersey Aquatic Club (JAC) which is based at the Jersey Aquatic Center in New Providence. The facilities at JAC include a gorgeous 50-meter pool that converts to over twenty 25-yard lanes. We will have access to this state of the art facility for meets, events and more. The sky’s the limit and we have so many ideas in the planning phase already!
Our swimmers will be USA Swimming registered with JAC. Parents will submit meet fees directly to JAC and registration fees directly to USA Swimming. This partnership will give our satellite incredible opportunities within the larger organization.
Why partner with Jersey Aquatic Center?
When designing this program, NJAC researched many options and organizations. Ultimately, we found an incredible home at JAC because NJAC and JAC are so deeply aligned in their philosophies. It is only fitting that “NJAC” and “JAC” have the same acronym! The bottom line is that both organizations put our swimmers first. As per JACs team’s mission statement: “We understand that winning is more than one’s place at the finish of a race, as we strive to help student-athletes grow in character, physical development, and skill under the watchful eye of the values: Honesty, Respect, Courage, Pride, Accountability, Humility and Perseverance.” We will be part of a growing program at JAC and what they have to offer.
At the heart of NJAC is the philosophy that we strive to send our swimmers out into the world with the skills to achieve their dreams in and out of the pool. We often say we are “creating the best people first, and the best swimmers second.” Many of our swimmers react incredulously to their first few weeks with us because their “other coaches never explained why and instead just had them swim yards.” We focus on making smarter swimmers who can control their own technique and therefore also prevent injuries through detailed stroke mechanics. Ultimately, the individual character of each swimmer is at the forefront of everything we do as we work to instill resilience, strength in adversity, strong problem solving skills, and relentless determination in our athletes.
Where and how often will we train?
NJAC will continue to train in the pools that NJAC traditionally uses – The County College of Morris, in Randolph, and Morristown Beard School, in Morristown. Practices will be scheduled for 5 days/week, split between the two locations.
Will we go to meets?
Our coaches will also be USA registered, and we expect that one of our coaches will accompany our swimmers to the meets we enter. Entries will be done by our coaches in conjunction with swimmers’ goals and expectations. We will swim with JAC, as needed, for any assigned warmup, relays, etc.
How do I sign up for the tryout?
Although tryouts have already happened, we have 4 spaces available at this time. Please fill out our NJAC Club Swim Team Application and Tryout Signup or email admin@northjerseyaquatics.com to inquire.
